Hi Craig, I am so grateful for your website because I've been out of the loop for a good length of time (Graduate of 2003 and only did internships). You seem to break things down in detail and discuss them, which helps me build upon what I learned in school. I started networking and am looking for a mentor of sorts (someone with time). It is hard breaking into PR, especially when your entry level. I have the mind to try my own PR for local folks with small businesses, with the intent of getting them some exposure. But, I am stuck like a deer in headlights!!!!! Put it this way, I've read a few of your articles and don't know what some of the acronyms stand for.....LOL!!! But I like what I'm reading so far.
Also, I actually haven't used Facebook for very long but my personal opinion about using it as main hub is that it serves well for a more personal interaction and not the best marketing tool for business. I lean more toward the blog and Twitter. It's just that any and everyone has them and the effects of their use have been watered down by it. So you really have to stand out when it comes to your approach and content.

While marketing uses apps a lot for push messages - offers, vouchers etc- apps do also allow your stakeholders (who are obviously interested enough in you to download the app) to provide you with feedback. I like the one-touch to email or call function and they offer survey features too. Not all websites provide opportunity for instant feedback but maybe when you optimise them for smart phones this is easier to do. I'd love to know more about the comparison and capability if anyone has more info. thanks

I've analysed apps vs producing mobile web. That is, a website optimised for smartphones tec. I think the latter is more important and I've written on the topic on this blog. I haven't actually used an app in practice, hwoever, so if you'd like to share your insights that would be great, Birgit.

thanks for another interesting article Craig. There's no mention of smart phone apps which I am excited about from a comms point of view. I have just discovered all that they can offer/do and that they are not out of reach from a budget point of view. Have you had much to do with them as a tool in the comms/marketing mix?
